Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches with 1 cup of granulated sugar, water, and lemon juice. Stir gently and let sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- While the peaches rest, melt the butter in a baking dish in the preheated oven.
Batter Mixing
- In another bowl, mix the flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt together. Gradually stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined.
- Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
- Spoon the peach mixture over the batter, including the juice. Again, do not stir.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg to taste.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
