Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches with 1 cup of granulated sugar, water, and lemon juice. Stir gently and let sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. While the peaches rest, melt the butter in a baking dish in the preheated oven.
Batter Mixing
  1. In another bowl, mix the flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt together. Gradually stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined.
  2. Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
  3. Spoon the peach mixture over the batter, including the juice. Again, do not stir.
  4. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg to taste.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy!
