- Melt the butter in a large bowl and stir in the chopped bittersweet chocolate until smooth.
- Add the granulated sugar and mix until well combined, creating a glossy mixture.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt; stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- If desired, fold in the optional chocolate chips.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly across.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
