  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar Can be replaced with monk fruit for a lower calorie option.
  • 4 oz bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped Choose high-grade chocolate for richer taste.
  • 2 large eggs Can be substituted with flaxseed meal or aquafaba for a vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour For gluten-free brownies, use almond flour or a gluten-free blend.
  • 1/4 cup Dutch process cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt A pinch enhances the sweetness.
  • 1/3 cup bittersweet chocolate baking chips (optional) Add for extra chocolatey experience.
  • 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional) Add for extra chocolatey experience.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a large bowl and stir in the chopped bittersweet chocolate until smooth.
  3. Add the granulated sugar and mix until well combined, creating a glossy mixture.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt; stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. If desired, fold in the optional chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly across.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  3. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

For an elegant presentation, sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle with raspberry coulis. Pair with vanilla ice cream for a classic combination.
