Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  3. Add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg. Mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in the caramel sauce and chocolate chips if using.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  2. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
